WCSL Annual Family Event

The Westmoreland County Sportsmen’s League had their Annual Family Event on May 6th this year. It was our biggest turnout so far with some great displays, animals, & prizes! All the prizes, food & admission was FREE thanks to some wonderful sponsors & volunteers!
I included some of their signs as well as a number of pics for all to view. You can see some of our wonderful volunteer workers as well as some of the children who won prizes too. There were far too many folks involved for my little cell phone to catch all their pics, sorry guys!
Here’s hoping we see an even better turnout next year!

Eggs and More Eggs

Found this sparrow egg in Ligonier last week. I put it here between a house wren’s & a robin’s egg so you could see the size difference. This is scaled to actual size but I’m not sure if that will come over on the blog. Aren’t bird eggs neat?

Springtime at Last!

I found my first egg for this year,  cracked & already emptied, at my new job. I felt it was saying, “Welcome, can I be in your collection”? Yes, yes you can!

Touch of The Past

Went for a relaxing walk at the nature reserve at work & found this beautiful old block house from 1780. It was a place of protection from Indian attacks.

Back of house. I thought it was really neat.

Contagious?

I think I’m a little obsessed at times with some of my interests. I also think I’m contagious as shown by the pictures. My “sister” made this little bed, coat & scarf for Zoby. I was going to tell her she was crazy for making things for a beanbag zebra but I was afraid that Zoby might hear me…

Oh yes, she also made him a teddy bear (see in top picture). She is crazy!

Memories of Dear Friends

Today is the 13th anniversary of the deaths of two dear friends. My mother-in-law Ethel & dear friend Beth died within 15 minutes of each other. I received so many blessings from these two women. Ethel gave me a deep love for nature, plants & birds in particular.  With Beth I had the privilege of knowing her family & being part of it. With the pledge to take care of each other’s children should anything happen to either of us, I was given the joy of helping to raise her children when she passed away. Upon marrying Dan Buchko years later I was truly blessed to be given 4 wonderful stepchildren. Although I would love to have them both back in my life, I am grateful for their influences on me & for many wonderful memories. I am also looking forward to the day we meet again in Heaven!

America’s Plight

Zoby & I were having a discussion on why the most advanced, prosperous country in the world was sinking to such great depths. He said we’re not lacking in resources sitting as we are on the largest oil deposits in the world, or freedom since he could go to college, or work or be a stay at home zebra & no one would hinder him in any of these ventures. We agreed that it was purely power mad politics. Why else would all true job opportunities be denied or given to other countries (ex. oil drilling going to Brazil & pipeline going to Canada, production of areas of Apple Corp. Going over seas, etc?) If we are crippled enough we will have to rely on government whether we like it or not. We’re losing the middle class slowly but surely. Soon it will be rich or poor only. Why is it big businesses & the rich (the ones providing most of our jobs) need to be taxed to the hilt when congressional members earning millions are exempt? Just saying. We need to get out as a people much like the colonists did with England and revolt. I feel if they ignore our voices & votes we need to physically do something like throw them out. Zoby says I’m an extremist but he’ s sympathetic to my feelings. I did notice that he couldn’t name an option at this time. In case you didn’t recognize him, that’s Zoby below. He usually wears glasses when we have these talks because there’s usually reading involved.

My Kind of Winter

In review of this past January, I completely approved of the weather. Little to no snow suits me just fine. This was one of the many gorgeous sunrises for this January.

Reminds me of winter when I was a kid in Calif.

Chicken, Ummmmmm

Just felt like writing about my dinner. I think I am addicted to garlic butter wings and fries. I could eat them almost everyday (need to take a break occasionally for bacon). The batch above takes about 20 minutes to make and is guaranteed to clog an artery. Just think, no more leaky arteries!

Crafty Friends

A shout out to my friend Ryan Brautigam for making a duct tape wallet for Zoby. He even personalized it with his name! Ryan included a slot for cards & it opens with a slot for cash! Zoby is tickled about it & says that Ryan is his new best friend!

“Someone” was hoping I’d catch the hint & take him to work with me. It worked. When they look this cute how do you say no?
